Interesting analysis. But Intel had pretty good timing in selling 2.1 billion worth of securities before the worst of the market decline hit. And it doesn't look like Intel Capital is taking advantage of the bargains out there. They are not buying.

Just curious: Where did you get the Dec 21 capital loss, and what is it about Dec 21 rather than Dec 31?

At least Intel didn't sell their AMD shares to buy VA Linux at $275 on their IPO day like somebody on this thread !!
