Walter:

I think many will have problems with L&H recording fictious revenues to pump up the stock price allowing it to acquire Dictaphone and Dragon. I would suspect the US employees are not too happy by this turn of events.

I have a problem quantifing the intristic value in this situation. I think the acquired franchises keep a floor on the stock but am wondering what that really is.

As an example INFX had similar problems a few years ago. One of its problems was ORCL just raided the top talent.

Good luck.

Tim

Nasdaq Halts Trade in Lernout & Hauspie

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Nasdaq Stock Market said on Thursday it halted trading in troubled Belgian voice recognition company Lernout & Hauspie Speech Products NV. (NasdaqNM:LHSP - news) (LHSP.ED)

Nasdaq said trading was halted at 8:21 a.m. EST (1321 GMT) as Nasdaq requested ``additional information'' from the company. The shares closed on Wednesday at $6-7/32.

``Trading will remain halted until the company has fully satisfied Nasdaq's request for additional information,'' a statement said. Further details were not immediately available.

The company said Thursday it will restate results for 1998, 1999 and the first half of 2000. Lernout is the subject of a U.S. regulatory investigation into alleged discrepancies in its financial statements.

Easdaq, the pan-European exchange based in Brussels, halted trading in L&H on Thursday pending clarification of its financial statements.
