You can still find journalists willing to speculate that Al Gore might yet win the presidency, but even the most intrepid of them is taking the precaution of booking his Election Night hotel room in Austin. The Four Seasons? Full. The Hyatt? Full. The Capitol Marriott? Full too. Radisson, Renaissance, Day's Inn, Doubletree, Holiday Inn? Full, full, full, full, full. There are plenty of rooms available in Nashville, though

can't speak for Nashville, but my wife and I stayed in the Austin Hilton Friday night .....
her mother is in a nursing home about 60 miles south and west of Austin and I was concerned about the flooding which was going on and became slightly reluctant to spend the night there as 2 of the 3 roads into the little town were closed/blocked from the rising rivers .....
so I checked with the desk at the Austin Hilton about keeping the room for Saturday night ......

well, they DID have a room ...
but
the quoted rate was MORE THAN DOUBLE ...
and I couldn't extend for more than just the Sat night ....

sheeeeesh ....

They better hope they hedged their bets.
