However, technically there is not a company to challenge cisco on all business fronts. There are different companies to challenge cisco on each front, but not one "conglomerate" on one front....

I believe you are wrong. Please cite some factual data.

Dave was using the term Gorilla in the technical sense that is employed in the Gorilla Game, not as in "big company".
