I agree completely. This is especially true since the 7800 share offer started at 12 1/4 and moved down all day after someone hit the bid and the stock moved down. The 7800 was always 1/8 or 1/4 above the best offer, so they clearly had no intention to sell stock. The person behind that order can be traced, and their motive can be established based on a number of factors. A number of cases are described on the NASD website where people have been fined and/or censured for placing orders with the intent to manipulate the price of a publicly held security. A similar activity is happening through BTRD and INCA. Someone using those ECNs has continuously been placing orders to sell stock and canceling after getting partial fills. It would appear on the surface that the intent of those sell orders is to pressure the bid. If the seller really wanted to sell stock, he wouldn't continually cancel the balance of partially filled orders.

Yes but two can play at that game Eric. I wonder if we will have opportunity to see that number of shares offered again tomorrow...

how do you know it was a false size? Why are you the arbiter of what is counterproductive to another trader? I mean, why do ever see 50,000 + shares on the bid or offer of any security? Isn't this counterproductive? According to you CSCO, JDSU, SUNW are manipulated every day.

If and when the 78 became marketable and you tried to hit it and were not filled, maybe you have a case. Otherwise it's just more level II self masturbation that the GUMM shills love to lay on the yahoo and si newbies who have never seen a level II screen. The way some of them think they can interpret this stock's minute to minute trading you would think their wealth would be approaching infinity by now rather than having to push the stock of a goo maker on naive granny's. Oh wait, those are just their small trading positions, they are all long term holders, I forgot
