It's interesting as well, at least to me <g>, that the ITU's Request for Submission of Candidate Radio Transmission Technologies IMT-2000 application criteria was distributed to WG5 members for use as they establish specification requirements....

I infer that steps are being taken to assure that technologic requirements will be addressed in the event that Europe honors the following proposition:

"Pursuant to the policy of the European Union, in order to ensure Community-wide roaming and interoperability, all IMT 2000 systems may apply for licenses in EU Member States for operation in the spectrum identified for IMT 2000 systems by ITU Resolution 212 as long as least one license is granted for a UMTS system in each Member State."
