I must admit I am astounded... I would expect a lawsuit if he wins but I don't understand the legalities of these things. It's outragous in any case.

This is not the first time a dead guy has been on the ballot, BTW. Nor the first time a widow has stepped in and taken over the seat.

I heard the UK has something called a "Certificate of existence in life" Supposedly this serves dead men not
getting their pension.

it's an old trick. some dead men are even candidates. one state has a candidate on the ballot for the senate race who died two weeks ago - and he's in the lead in the polls if you can believe that.

I just got back from defacing my Massachusetts ballot. President, US Senate, US Congress, and 5 misc. state offices. The first two had about 6 candidates each, all assumed to be alive, including Libertarians, the Congress slot had a D and an R, and the 5 state offices were all D's running unopposed. As long as they promise to stay buried, I would be overjoyed to support dead candidates. -g-
