Not necessary. Polls are open all day long. Anyone who cares to can vote. If work keeps you away from the polls election day, there's always an absentee ballot.

Why not give a holiday for Presidential election day?

Actually the united auto workers union in Michigan has done just that. We will pay for it when we buy our next car.

Also you will be hard pressed to find a city or county worker in Cook Co. Illinois who is not out helping the dems today.
