Have fun at work Greg. I'm home with a cough.

What on Earth would be the motivation to perpetuate a fraud? What other science has done this successfully. Granted our nuclear industry came close with the "Our Friend the Atom" type propaganda, but really, has mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and geology done that much to "hide" the truth? I don't think so. The opposite can't be said of dogmatic interpretations of reality.

So just from a "whose laundry is dirtier" point of view, which camp has the better claim on trying to discover the truth?

In my lifetime I've seen a reworking of the geological time scale, the theory of the origins of the solar system, the model of the atom, and not even to mention the practical revolution produced by the computer. All of these required a rethinking and resubmission of the facts to tests of logic. I think we are closer to the truth than we were. I'm just not seeing the conspiracy mentality that you see in science trying to intentionally to deceive us with wrong interpretations of fossil evidence.
