First, all blue diode lasers are better than red or IR lasers, since you can double data density (wavelength is half that of the red laser). Second, I think that CREE has a generic technology which if they play it right, can open huge markets. For instance, availability of blue lasers (or LED's) enable RGB systems for color display that are much better (well in some ways) than AMLCD, at least, once you go to larger form factors.

There are other multi billion dollars applications that I cannot discuss in detail (much too lengthy) and which their technology is an enabling element for.
