Palm the only PDA down opinion:
.
I think the answer is quite obvious. Palm is losing market share. Is there any proof (besides vaporware) that the Palm O/S can be updated to improve power and efficiency?

Take a look at the introduction of new Palm products. Competitors are offering faster, more powerful, more colorful devices.

In the past year, we have had the M100 (2 mb) and the commercial flop IIIC. Now compare this to the competition: iPaq, Handspring's new models, RIMM's product offerings, HWP 548. They all have a higher average selling cost per unit and offer more for the money.

Yes, the casual user will prefer the simplicity of Palm.

But at what expense? At the expense of a product line that offers fewer applications, lower gross margins, and lower average selling prices.

I assumed Palm did not want to detract from their current product line by offering a new product during the holiday season. I have my doubts now.

Am I the only one who is disappointed that an upgraded Palm device has not been offered in the past year?
