I've thought the same thing - you may have to phone in to a rep, and cough up some extra $$$.

That would be a question that each discount broker would need to answer. I'm sure most have a means. If they didn't, I would use their "contact us" feature and send an e-mail indicating which lot was sold, attaching a copy of that dated e-mail to my confirmation ticket.

If you don't want the IRS looking up u'r rear with a
microscope use a FIFO system and don't be trying to dance
around it ( first in first out ). Other wise your begging
for an audit, while you may not get flagged for years
if you do you'l wish to hell it never happened as even if
your clean it's one big big big pain in the ass.
