Got this technology alert from WSJ by e-mail...

>TECHNOLOGY ALERT
from The Wall Street Journal

November 7, 2000

Pets.com said it will shut down its online pet store and lay off about 255
of its 320 employees after a search for a buyer proved fruitless,
and struggling vitamin seller MotherNature.com said its board unanimously
voted to liquidate and dissolve the company due to its lack of
prospects "to be financed as a going concern."

These are two failed merchants who happened to be selling through the internet. Has NOTHING to do with technology.
Yet the media lumps them in with true technology companies and thus gives all of technology a bad name when the merchants fail.

Mail order merchants sell by phone. Does that make them technology companies?
