indeed. since the market's trading volume runs at 3,6 times GDP, i think we can make a pretty good case that overtrading is the order of the day. another feature to keep an eye on: at bear market bottoms,average trading volume usually declines markedly. it may be strong at THE bottom, or into the first significant rise, but over a longer period of time, it should decline a lot, as interest in the market wanes. Tokyo being again a great contemporary example...trading volume there is STILL not back to the levels seen at the height of the bubble, almost 11 years ago now.

i forgot to respond to part of your statement...re. the primary trend. i never said it is down...i don't know if it is. it sure is in the NAZ, but not anywhere else. all i'm saying is that IF it has changed, manipulations will fail in the long run. if not, they will continue to succeed.
