I do hold PMCS and will hold it still.

Interesting calls from the houses on PMC-Siera, Broadcom, AMCC, etc... . I don't know the exact revenue percentage for each that they derive from Cisco, but I believe Broadcom derives around 14 - 17%. However, I don't know exactly what that 14 - 17% breaks down to in terms of their diverse product mix. Obviously the timing of the downgrade was able to utilize a variety of elements that included technical analysis, valuation issues and inventory issues in terms of those chip makers. The words used were "near-term concerns". If it takes one or two quarters for any inventory concerns to work out then so be it.

I do happen to hold some long term shares of Broadcom which were purchased for the longer term. I would imagine that longer term investors in these chip stocks simply need to focus on the longer term reasons they bought the shares in the first place. That's no comfort considering the price decline for anyone that bought at higher prices, but it also points out the reality of chip/inventory cycles that come with the territory of investing in semiconductors.
