Incredible election night. Here's some News of the Weird from stomper on Voltaire's Porch:

Whew, either way this isn't going to be pretty:

Major controversy brewing over the Palm Beach County, Florida ballot.
The ballot in this county was designed in a way that made a lot of Democrats to vote
inadvertently for Pat Buchanan.

The ballot had two columns. The left column had Bush first, Gore second, etc. The right column
had Buchanan first, etc. The punch hole for Buchanan was second after the punch hole for
Bush. The punch hole for Gore was third. The Buchanan punch hole overlapped the Gore space.
Many people thought they were voting for Gore by skipping the first punch hole and punching the
second. They voted for Buchanan instead!

Although the county is a Democratic stronghold, Buchanan got almost 1% of the Palm Beach
County vote or more than 2000 votes, which is a greater number than the difference between
Gore and Bush in the entire state so far.

Heavily Democratic retiree communities, such as Century Village, voted for Buchanan in
considerable numbers.

I foresee a protracted ugly fight over Florida.
