Cooters, the post on MMC and SDMC is encouraging.

Good find!

SanDisk press release today regarding the P-tag.

siliconinvestor.com

IMHO a personal ID tag that would be capable of storing key medical information, known diagnoses, drug list, allergies, recent clinic dictations, CXR, EKG, blood tests,... would revolutionize the medical records of patients. Today, it is sad to say, much is still accessed in hard copy with many hospitals and clinics beginning to develop intranets that give access to key information. I see no reason why that information could not be exported to the pt's P-tag and updated via providers or a patient accessible kiosk system as new data becomes available.

Imagine going to clinic and having your MD slip you P-tag into a Palm Pilot or a laptop or tablet PC and having all your vital records immediately available, including radiographs.

The potential cost savings to hospitals and clinics would be staggering.
