You are premature. The Florida votes are not proven to have been Gore votes. This is sheer speculation at this point. There was nothing wrong with the system. We have used it in my precinct for years. I am suspicious as to how someone can know that they made a mistake on the ballot and how we can know how many people made the mistake. If voters are found to have mistakenly voted for Buchannan it may prove to have been because there was something wrong with the voters. Maybe they weren't smart enough to master the ballot.

Trying to catch up on posts. What an exciting election either way it goes! About the ballots with the alleged confusing marking: Seems anyone with intelligence enough to register could decipher the proper hole. How does someone rush through the voting process without checking and being sure they punched the hole corresponding to their candidate? Irresponsible. Don't blame this on a ballot. In any case, there is no clear mandate for either candidate- PERIOD. No party can brag. We'll have the next four years to evaluate whoever the winner is and then we can do this again.
