Oil "Crisis" realization. I am really amazed reality has not set in yet. But I suspect a couple more weeks like this one, get the elections behind us and then let Winter set in and we should have a wake up call.

I am amazed that no one seems to remember what LBJ did in Texas and what Daley did earlier in Chicago. Whatever side one is on, I mean, here we have a state that seems leaning to Gore, then all of a sudden all these calls go out to the media from Bush headquarters, they back off, ballot boxes get lost, a million (if I hear it correctly) absentee ballots are reported, a recount begins, and all this in a state run by one of the candidates' brother.

The large Cuban population is extremely reactionary and not particularly committed to political fair play.

So far there is no evidence of anything irregular, but what Johnson managed to do in Texas on a few hours' notice was incredible, if you read the history.

If nothing else, this is a very unfortunate outcome for the election, which should have been decided definitely one way or the other.

Happily we live in a country where I can say this.
