And don't forget your worst nightmare - tort reform. In the State of Washington, where I practice, we have had tort deform for about 15 years and trial lawyers have continued to prosper. If you eliminate trial lawyers, you eliminate accountability by companies like Firestone. I wonder if George W is in favor of all those people who have been injured by defective products just forgetting about their claims. Is that part of his bringing people together? We had a gas pipeline explosion by Bellingham about one year ago which caused the death of some young children. The Republican congress tried to pass a "watered down" version of a pipeline safety act. It was defeated, in large part, due to the efforts of my trial lawyer congressman, Jay Inslee who will now work for tougher pipeline safety standards. I applaud his efforts. Courageous trial lawyers like Jay Inslee will not be intimidated by politicians who rant about trial lawyers who work for justice.
