Ken, True. I do find it interesting that for the most part, Gore won the northeast and west coast, losing the majority in the middle. I just hope that the vote cast in FLA remains as it is. I don't think that I could stand listening to his whine for another 4 years. tp

<an arcane provision in our constitution over rides the will of the people.>

Take the time to research the reasons behind the formation of the electoral college and you will know why it was created. If you researched it then why make your statement.

but an arcane provision in our constitution over rides the will of the people. When the same thing happened to Grover Cleveland, he came back and won re-election. Perhaps, we will see a repeat of history. Time will tell.

The Constitution rides high above our country. The electoral college provides for a system which forces our candidates to speak to all the people of this great country. If it were not for the electoral college candidates would never visit New Mexico and Nevada and so on. They would stump in our major cities with dense populations. The farmer in Nebraska would never meet Al Gore or George Bush.
The electoral college makes politics accessible to all people so let's not try to change the best political system in the world. Gore if he loses will be back. Now he has to act like a gentleman and show what class he has.
