I agree that the two parties should work for the greater good. But I could never advise the Republicans to do so given the sorry record of the Democrat party. They would get a royal screwing.

If Gore wins, he has a popular and electoral victory, and we have a balance of power on Capitol Hill. It would be a much healthier situation.

The incredibly foolish early declarations of Gore's (and later Bush's) victories by the press are no longer a factor in this election. The recount was automatic under Florida law.
