Thomson gives you volume offers to buy or sell, and a pie chart inthe lower right shows the daily percentage sales from retail, Inst. and other. You need to get the daily volume and multiply by these percentages. But the offers to buy or sell are somewhat indicative to daily activity, especially if sell and buy offers are pairing up or cummulatively summing to the same amount...

This one has quarterly changes of Institutional holders.
lionshares.com

This one shows the QoQ changes in the top ten holders.
insidertrader.com

These last two sources run at least 30-90 days behind the daily situation.

If you find something better please inform me, I am still looking for more timely or direct information.

Some have said Level II information permits you to know who the the seller or buyer (if you can translate the code), but I cannot confirm that.

Best resource I've found is Tradetrek, where you can follow institutional action by way of block trades. It's not free. but quite helpful. tradetrek.com
