Charlie: Amen. My apologies to the thread for so many OT posts on the election here. I appreciate the fact that no one jumped down my throat telling me to shut up already. Guess I needed to vent after staying up watching until 5 a.m. <G>

I find it interesting that Bush is saying the election is still in question because Gore did not concede, (took back his concession) as if that is the `official` end of the race, not because an election within .5% of the vote automatically results in a recount in Florida. The election officially ends when ALL the votes are counted and the people have spoken not when one candidate concedes. He is not taking the high road here, as this should be allowed to be sorted out without impropriety. This is more than partisan politics at play now and he needs to realize this.

I expect that when Gore gives his press conference he will appear like the statesman that he is and will support the process of the election and the voice of the people even IF the electoral vote goes against him. He should show that he values above all the rule of the law as expressed in the Constitution, not the fact that his opponent didn't conceed, as if that has anything to do with anything. In other words, he will sound like a grown-up not like a child who's toy has been taken away.
