agreed on Carter's achievements after his reign. he's become a sort of respected elder statesman.

I believe he got a real bad rap on the economy too... oil flying away and they blame him for stagflation, then it comes crashing back down and Reagan is a genius. Not that Reagan wasn't better for the economy, but a major part of what happend had little to do with them IMO.
