I find it incredibly rude that citizens use that kind of language and sentiment against him. I could go on about my feelings about what Gore COULD be...but what's the point? In all likelihood, these are both very decent human beings who have somewhat different viewpoints. I find it a little unsettling that people automatically pin him as an idiot. I have a few friends who know him and feel he is a very intelligent man...if somewhat unable to express himself at times. It's unfortunate that the tendency to garble language is sometimes confused with a lack of intelligence. I suppose the same can be said of the Northern disposition toward the Southern drawl... Since I work in the media, I will continually reiterate (for those who don't know) that it is wrong to take what is on TV and the newspapers at face value. I know from experience that many editors will not air or print pro-Republican articles simply because they feel it doesn't suit them. In cases where there is a good story and they can't hide it, they will try to spin it in a way that makes it look like the Republicans were forced to do something against their nature. There is a STRONG liberal bias in many major media outlets. What astounds me is that there are enough citizens who are intelligent enough to see through that veil. I don't think very much of the general intellect of the US citizen...but I do believe they often have keen insight. The idiot badge, however, is one that baffles me to this day. Gore, I'm sure, is more intelligent, but only by a degree. He certainly is more detail oriented. But I know lots of detail oriented people who come across as intelligent, yet upon closer inspection are very common. Besides, should the idiot badge stick....what could be better than having Chauncey Gardner as President? LOL.
