Every one of his voters knew how extremely close the election was going to be. Maybe if Gore was a little truer to his Nader-like beliefs, he could have won more votes from the Nader camp. Maybe those voters were turned off by Gore's continual self-reinventing. Maybe not, but then again, these voters stayed true to their beliefs, knowing full well what the outcome would have been. There were many TV ads run here in Oregon which made the statement, "A vote for Nader is a vote for Bush." Funny how that failed to convince the 5% in Oregon who still voted for Nader. (I wonder if Jimmy Mac saw similar ads in Florida. 97K voted for Nader, which easily outsizes Bush's narrow and disputable margin there.) Tenchusatsu P.S. - USA Today reporting that Gore is promising to abide by the final results. If Gore keeps this promise (assuming the FL results hold), this would show a lot of class on his part, more than I would have expected from him.
