I see this as making election supervisors more cautious in regards to ballot preparation. Again, I think there should be uniformity. Then, people know what to expect.

Pay attention and read carefully. And pay attention to what means what on that ballot. Because what you punch or mark or pull is how you voted.

I do agree with you .... I also believe there was in fact confusion based on these numbers:

Buchanan got 3,407 votes for president in the heavily Democratic county Tuesday, more than he received in
any other Florida county, according to unofficial returns. Statewide, Gore was behind George W. Bush (news -
web sites) by fewer than 1,800 votes, and Florida held the key to the national race.


Two larger counties south of Palm Beach both had much lower Buchanan results - 789 in Broward County and
561 in Miami-Dade County. In Duval County, a much more conservative county in northeast Florida, only 650
Buchanan votes were cast.
