I think the sell off today was mainly a result of the AT&T outlook and needed sale of their investments because of debt. Also, WCII vendor financing with CSCO. The telco sector is in real trouble. Junk bonds and bankruptcy's will bring this economy to a very very hard smash landing.

Both house and senate appear to be very evenly matched now, even if Repubs win both. Dems will still be powerful enough to stifle anything meaningful the repubs try to do and vice-versa. Plus some and sometimes many cong members cross party lines and vote the other way.

Even if elected, Bush would have no "mandate" from "the people". And neither would Gore.

We're going to have 4 years of even more mediocre governing than we've had for the last four, if that is fathomable.
