09:00 ET Applied Materials (AMAT) 43 7/16: Banc of America lowering its FY01 earnings estimate to $2.90 from $3.45 (-16%) and cuts price target to $60 from $93. Firm expects AMAT to make its number when earnings are reported next week. However, believes the outlook on bookings is murky and will lead to cautious F1Q'01 guidance on bookings.... AMAT falls to $40 1/4 in pre-market. Call also impacting NVLS -1, KLAC -1. ____________________________________________________________ The chip sector keeps unraveling like a cheap suit. Phil
