when I intended to vote for George Bush...

Exactly. If we start second-guessing every time somebody whines during an election, we will descend into anarchy. Ignorance/stupidity/bad eyes are no excuse for a re-vote.

And as for those ballots, I've voted with many of them. They had ARROWS pointing to the names, for crying out loud!

Hey...I just realized that the police station was two miles from my voting place, and I was harassed, and I was going to vote for Bush, but I could not see straight, and I was too tall for the box they put me in and I had the wrong glasses, and my lucky rabbits foot was at home.

I think a re-vote is the ONLY way to go.....

It suddenly occurs to you when your candidate is down and is looking for votes any way he can get them, and your opponent's lawyers appear with all sorts of excuses for you to attest to in pre-printed affidavits.

Gosh, I intended to vote for Nader, but I accidentally voted for Gore. I had promised and intended to vote for Gore to honor my vote-swap, but I hit the wrong button. Oh, well. Poor Nader, who loses. Just as well. I'm for Gore anyway, and now he gets someone else's Nader vote, and the end justifies the means. <gggggggg>. No voter fraud here, is there? <ggggggggg>.

1 Gore vote + 1 Nader vote = 2 Gore votes.

(The above isn't my real experience, just a hypothetical).
