TO: all,

If you want to read your own thoughts, I’d guess there is enough room here for you and your ego! You give new meaning to “turning inward”.

PS: If you are REALY interested in what your preaching, I suggest you find a “friend” who has lived behind the old Iron Curtain, ask about the “Black Market” and if it resembles the unfettered society you claim you want!

Be careful for what you wish, you just might get it!

Girbel

GerPol: What I posted was a link to an actual event.

I find it fascinating that so many people start out with "Commune"-istic ideals, but fail to realize that anything benign inevitably gets out of control, due to human greed.

Definition, communism: "the ownership of property, or means of production, distribution and supply, by the whole of a classless society, with wealth shared on the principle of 'to each according to his need', each yielding fully 'according to his ability'".

Communism is based on the idea that even if you are mentally or physically lacking, the state will give you credit for what you are able to produce. And, conversely, the state will give you what you need to survive.

The gentlemen mentioned in the link took more than they needed to survive, and they are going to die for it. Clearly, at least one other country sees government corruption as punishable by death.

Chretien himself is guilty of this - government departments even picked up the tab for his personal home food bills during his term. That is just ONE example of taking more than you need.

The manner in which I drew attention to the link merely reflects some of the sentiments which at least two people, (I suspect more) on this thread harbour - that government officials guilty of corruption should be punished. The fact that I toyed with the wording in the first line was meant to play on people's imaginations. It was intentional, and obviously it worked.

If you are offended by the spoof, I suspect it is because you are a government employee. If you are unable to understand the sentiments of taxpayers, like myself, who have had cause to require government services and have gone THROUGH HELL trying to get "served", then it gives credence to my suspicion. You have to come over to our side of the front counter for a few years to see why I feel the way I do.

I do not advocate death to bad politicians, but unless you yourself live in a cocoon, you have countless times heard things like, "Ya, we should line up all the bad politicians and shoot them,'" or perhaps, "They need to be put in a Ukranian firing squad." (I trust you have seen a caricature of same.)

In Canada, corrupt government officials and politicians are not punished, by death or by any other means. Instead, they are eligible for re-election, or re-appointment.

Should you be able to pry open that brain of yours long enough to let other people's thoughts filter in, you might discover that you, too, have the ability to ponder ideas which are foreign.

I don't hear an echo. But I do hear people on this thread that are disgusted with politicians in Canada, disgusted with the fact that government officials who make mistakes are never held accountable, and disgusted with the fact that Canadians either bury their head in the sand or wander around with their head in the clouds.

Should you also somehow be able to contemplate the legal right to freedom of expression and freedom of association, you might apply that epiphany to the fact that my post was to Lino..., who I assure you is more disgusted with Canada than I.
