Voltaire,

Do you attribute today's tech shakeout (particular fiberoptics) entirely to election uncertainty? If so, we may be in for a rocky stretch here if Gore decides to mount a legal challenge to a narrow Bush FLA victory.

I agree with you. I thought I would get a real lashing from you. But, with respect to your comments on the market, I couldn't agree more. This drags on, there will be no end of the year rally. In fact, I would expect the NAZ to break support at 3000. Uncertainty is the wrose thing that could happen to this market.

I am less fearful of a Bush presidency with a 50:50 Senate. There are moderate republicans and moderate democrats that should keep some things under control (out of the hands of the religious right). So, I will sleep better tonight than I did last night when I thought that the Senate was going to remain 54:46.

But, a suit has already been filed by three registered voters in Palm Beach County. That suit probably will survive a motion to dismiss and hence the issue may linger on for a month or two.

Good luck to us all. This is not what America needed. The divisions are only going to get much larger and the bitterness only that more bitter (no matter who eventually takes the office).

So you are saying if Gore wins, even though we have a Repub Congress, our portfolios are toast??? RMBS too?
If the market is that tenuous people like me need to be out of it.
