Brian,

In a democracy there is a responsibility to make ballots unambiguous and clear even to 70 or 80 year old voters. Try getting help from inside a voting booth!

Yes it is pure stupidity -- on the part of those who designed and approved the butterfly ballot.

Normally such errors don't matter very much, but in this case these votes may be dispositive as to the outcome. I am afraid that a revote in Palm Beach County may be necessary or the legitimacy of this election may forever be in doubt.

One thing that has not been mentioned here is that on the butterfly ballot, the circles for Bush and Gore are both equally distant from Buchanan. Why aren't we hearing any complaints of Bush supporters making the same mistake?

The reason it hasn't been mentioned is, well, obvious: Bush is winning (at the moment). The 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' approach. It's also a fact that if there indeed was ballot confusion, it was by the elderly...who voted convincingly for Gore. Bush supporters would be incredibly foolish to demand a revote. In fact Bush folks would be expected to say things like, 'They had their chance', 'They saw the ballot prior to voting', 'It was an approved ballot', etc.

You best believe W. and the reps would demand a revote/recount if an equivalent situation arose and HE was losing. And the dems would come back with precisely what the G.O.P. is saying right now

Just wait. You'll see.
