PROLIFE - I agree on the rural area concern but not the statement about the smaller states - at least not any more. The EC was created back when there were only a handful of states and two or three of those had populations that could overwhelm a popular vote election - hence the EC. However, with 50 states and DC, I do not think that is much of an issue anymore. However, the urban/suburban and rural comment makes sense to me - only the EC or a modified semblance of such can level that playing field IMO.
