Thanks Tom..... didn't look at it that way.

One thing I found to be odd...... I guess I shouldn't have though as I once worked for the Fed gov't..... these guys counting the votes went home at their normal quitting time.... I found it odd because of the intense scrutiny over the FL election results..... why couldn't they get some of these folks to stay with it until the votes were counted? I mean really! The eyes of the world were on them. I noted that one reporter on CNN tonight mentioned this same thing too.

You would think that some, or all of them could have sucked it up & sacrificed one day for the greater good.... besides they would have been compensated for their time. So much for public service I guess.

FWIW, my experience working for the Fed gov't & often times with state & local gov't employees should have taught me better I guess..... I found that most of them do not stay one minute past quitting time regardless of deadlines or even assignments of a critical, time sensitive nature....... heck, most of them have a hard time putting in a full days work once or twice a year :-o I would often find myself among the first people to arrive on site & be the last one remaining almost every day....... & listen to them bitch & moan about their job when they were there. And yes most of these folks actually believed they were working hard too.... regardless of the fact that they hadn't worked one genuinely productive 40 hour week in their entire career.

BTW, I am sure someone will take issue with my personal observations..... If your experience was different, GREAT! I have witnessed many, many hundreds (actually thousands) of gov't employees in many areas that are making careers doing exactly what I observed. They are among the least productive people I have ever seen in any profession anywhere. Please note I said most not all. There's always exceptions to the rule.
