According to tomorrow's Washington Post, the democrats have the right to request a second recount by hand.

Obviously this would take forever, and I bet it will happen. Reason: there are 100,000 ballots state-wide which were machine-read to show no choice for president. Many of these are thought to be machine miscounts because the voter didn't punch out the hole with enough force to remove the paper center and allow the machine to read it.

Since the democratic-inclined elderly might be most likely to punch feeble holes, this might give Gore yet another last hope.
