PP,

Indeed - good point. I think what many tend to miss is that CSCO, NT, and other vendors are not just selling to one set of customers and into one geography. So, a slowdown in a particular sector, although painful, may not be a strong indicator of future earnings. In the case of FTTH this is a huge untapped market which is just now beginging to take shape... and with it will drag along a new set of providers which (as you pointed out) will bring with it a new set of providers.

The bottom line is that there is much more to the eye then capex with CLEC's. Companies that are well balanced among markets, technologies, and geographies are going to be more insulated from any sector slow down... and as new technologies begin to emmerge they will typically more than make up for any sector softness... as has been the case in the past. Heck NT has been able to sheild the softness in the circuit switch market with it's optical strategy - they executed.... LU did not.
