Dan, I will take a win with no mandate over a loss anytime. The mandate thing is way over-rated anyway. Bush Sr. was the last president to get majority of electorate and it didn't get him anywhere. Clinton thought he had a mandate by winning 43%, and started using it, and he caused the Democrats to get a quick spanking at the first opportunity. I think the last president to who got a mandate and exercised it well was Reagan. Joe
