I'm aware some of you folks are high on TLM but IMO CED is cheaper. Not a recommendation just an opinion. If our dollar starts to sink watch the Canadian plays. Plus the Ranger purchase has yet to sink in.

John...sorry to disagree but they were very confusing. Over 18,000 people double punched it. Probably 10 times that many didn't catch the mistake.

Gore was listed second, but to vote for him, you would have to punch the third hole.

The networks were absolutely right in declaring Gore the winner.....a winner with possibly close to a quarter million more votes than Bush.

If that is so..and evidence seems to be reasonably strong...how can the wishes of the people be overruled???

JQP, you are absolutely 100% correct. The ballot issue is very important and should be resolved before the next election. These are local government issues, period. They should be addressed for future elections but there is no legal justification to change the outcome of this vote.

We should keep in mind that we are not talking fraud or deception which would be grounds for a re-vote. We are discussing the fact that some voters might have been confused about the voting process. Like you said, throw out the bogus ballots and recount the rest.

It's not like someone was trying to vote and was refused entry. It's not like any confused voter couldn't have asked an election official to assist them with their ballot! If there are 'other' irregularities about the FL vote, deal with them on a one by one basis, just like every other state in the country did.

Let the chips fall where they may and let's move on.

OT--

That's because the TV announcer explained the ballot to you and you sat there at leisure and figured it out.

That's different from waiting in line and then being left alone in a voting booth with a stylus and a punch card.

Also, to have difficulty with failing sight, as some of these voters did, is not the same thing as to have poor political judgment.

If 36,000 people got disqualified for punching it twice, there was something wrong with it. And the strangely large total of votes for Buchanan also suggests this.

<<< Again I feel a need to state that we should not allow the incompetent and illiterate to have a special chance to determine the direction of the country >>>

Also, we should not allow the competent and literate to have a special chance to determine the direction of the country.
We should use the electoral college not the popular vote to determine the winner?
