<97 is a long life but I"m sure it doesn't make it any easier.>

Point's of view are different for the Irish and the early generational Irish. The Irish I knew, who raised people like me a generation and two ago were the Irish who were detached and conveyed that to their children. They were the immigrants, the people who stepped away from their land and taught their children to be detached as well. It was their way of survival.

My mother did her job well. She taught us all to be, detached. She wants to die now. I understand.

Fortunately I married a girl of Italian descent who is family oriented. I do not have that detachment any longer but I sense the ol' woman is right. Life is Struggle and perhaps she would be better moving on.

On a lighter side, I returned from Dallas tonight to run into a Judge who is a Bush supporter. I cannot recall exactly ho he postured it, but it was something like,

"How can a group of people who can play 16 Bingo cards at a time 'accidentally' vote for Pat Buchanan."

I think that's a pretty funny observation, what do you think?
