Regarding the Palm Beach vote it does appear that they violated FL election law by placing Presidential candidates on both sides of the form.

Wouldn't it be just cute, if Gore, the consummate bureaucrat, were elected by reason of a Typical Bureaucratic Snafu. Sort of invoking that old maxim, "that pigeons always come home to go to the restroom".

Excellent post and right on target from another Gore
supporter... I voted Absentee Ballot in that I am not
in Fl. currently. Wonder whether my vote got counted.

I would prefer not to extend this discussion, but you don't have a personal message button on your profile.
I don't see it as a cultural war at all. The conservative wing of the party may be it's most visible, but believe me that well over 95% of the votes cast for Bush are like mine...very moderate. And he knows that.
What I find astounding about this race is the number of Democrats I've met who absolutely WOULD NOT vote for Bush outnumber by a wide marging the Republicans who feel the same about Gore.
I've always felt that the partisan bickering flows from the other side of the table, and this seems to become very apparent in this election. There are too many Dems who believe that Reps are extremists. There aren't too many Reps who feel Dems are. I think that says alot about the moderate voice of our party.'
Please don't bring up how Reed or Falwell or some other extremist is always on TV or newspaper to give the Reps a "face". That is done (trust me...I've seen the decision made) deliberately by the editors to provoke debate, discredit Republicans, and make the Dems SEEM moderate.
