Josef: Didnt the main elections person down in Florida state she didnt feel the re-count would change much - "only a handful of votes" ? Does a Bush lead from 1800 to 900 after half the county's in FLorida reported gets defined as a "handful"? I find that a signficant amount.

BY the way.. 19000 ballots thrown out by Dade County in a predominantly Democratic riding.. + the disproportionate amount of people suuposedly voting for Buchanan in a Jewish riding, PLUS the candidate for the Socialist Workers Party getting 9000 votes in a neighbouring county.. and I think you see why so many people think something's up in the Sunshine State.. hopefully not fraud.. at the very least bungling or screw-ups.

This might drag on for weeks.

Scott
PS- I see I got one of the cool posts of the day.. heh heh

Lets face it. We have a good percentage of this country's voters who are morons. If you have a candidate that heavily depends on votes of the morons he is running a risk that they will be themselves and screw up.

Joe,

Its elitism that screws up this country more than anything else.......let's check back when your 60 and told you are too old to vote and see how you feel then.

Joe, re <ballot forms> See my response:
Message 14763997

<There was a post about a local businessman in Palm Beach county who is a store owner, and he asked his customers..
and if they had any trouble understanding the ballot.>

The inclusion of the last question raises serious
concern about the bias of the poller.

<..from a high school kid in Wisconsin.>
Very moot example. Did the ballot have the same
format? And don't you think that those high school
young men, sitting comfortably in a classroom,
have slightly different learning capabilities as
compared to elderly people who were waiting in
line of voters for some hours?

<If you have a candidate that heavily depends on votes of the morons he is running a risk that they will be themselves and screw up.>
I thought both candidates now equally depend on votes
of few morons. So, what is your point?

Regards,
- Ali

Why were they using ballots from Florida in a Wisconsin high school?

The one thing that bothers me most about arguing politics is the continual assertions that people who disagree with some particular point of view are morons. Believe me, I've had that word thrown at me many, many times by the professional Clinton haters on SI. I find it tedious in the extreme.

PS: Here is another excerpt from the article I posted:
I got an e-mail yesterday from a high school kid in Wisconsin.

``We used these ballots last week in a mock election at my high school,'' he wrote. ``And not one kid (15-to-18-year-olds) had a single problem.''

Joe,

Were these Palm Beach ballots, or FL ballots?

Edit. Gore and his attorneys are considering legal options at this point as reported by CNN.
