SHHHHHH! Shhhhhh! Somebody is going to hear you! :)

Seriously though; When we speak of human value, we must be careful to appreciate that different people can have similar intelligence (and I am not saying that is the criteria for value) while displaying absolutely disparate abilities on tests or in real life competition. Culture and exposure and experience, really are so important. I have found that people have great gifts, even when they are unable to score high on a western iq test. If I remember my psychology, it used to be accepted that Asians had a higher iq average than occidentals. But what is smart about planting rice with a stick? I say this to make a point that intelligence is so culturally and environmentally dependent. There are different kinds of intelligence, and it is very difficult to really appreciate how true that is because of our cultural biases. Humans are incredibly adaptable. The guy at the garage may or may not have an iq past 100. But he will rebuild your engine for you. There is no way I would take my car to my surgeon. Just don't need scissors and catheters in my fuel lines.

Now ignorant intelligent people are REALLY dangerous because they can lead ignorant stupid people.

There are a lot of combinations, eh? But I think the most crucial criteria for cruelty and danger lies in the heart rather than the mind. Stupidity, in and of itself, seldom seems dangerous. But hatred, envy, resentment, and an obsession for power...these are dangerous: Dangerous, irrespective of the actual grams of grey matter in the recipe.

Some of the most prolific murderers in history had high I.Q.'s--but no empathy for others. Empathy is the single most important quality for the survival of our species. Without it we will definitely destroy ourselves; Because we have more power than can be imagined. If the power becomes predominantly destructive rather than constructive, we can all kiss our eyes goodbye.

Do you want substandard people working on your brain if you have a tumor? I don't. Heck I want him to be smarter than me preferably. Will he get paid more than me?<i/>
Morning Cos
Hope you are feeling better, Not only do they need to be smart, but also good with their hands. I had a root canal done last year and when I told the guy what I did he said he had tried to make a pot and had failed miserably. He told me he assumed it would be easy because he worked with his hands so much. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I thought what he did looked pretty easy. Same thing with surgeons. I took my surgeon a large vase that I made because I appreciate people who are good with their hands. Of course if they can't also see well all bets are off.
Just a thought.
Have a good day
Greg
