Agilent Technologies Offers Wireless Industry's First cdma2000
Manufacturing Test Solution

Test Set and Software Help cdma2000 Mobile Phone Manufacturers Meet Aggressive Time-to-Market Goals

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 9, 2000-- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A - news) today introduced the wireless industry's first commercial test solution
designed exclusively for early, high-volume manufacturing of cdma2000 mobile phones.

With the growing demand for Internet connection and other high-speed data services, the wireless industry is moving rapidly to launch the next generation of code-division
multiple-access (CDMA) technology. The Agilent E1962A IS-2000 mobile test mode application and 8960 Series 10 Model E5515T wireless communications test set help
manufacturers get to market early with cdma2000 mobile phones based on the new IS-2000 standard for CDMA.

``Early-entry, high-volume manufacturers have been asking for a cdma2000 test solution to help ensure their success in meeting aggressive production goals,'' said Al
Schmidt, vice president of Agilent's RF Communications Products Unit. ``Our wireless test set and software will give them the core capability they need to set up test lines
and verify phone quality and RF performance.''

After building special test modes into their phones, manufacturers can use Agilent's cdma2000 solution to perform a series of IS-2000 transmitter and receiver tests,
including power, frequency-and-waveform quality measurements. The solution also provides flexible IS-2000 forward-link emulation that allows control of the pilot, sync,
paging and other channel levels and data rates used in many R&D and production-test applications.

Agilent is offering this solution for the initial wave of cdma2000 mobile manufacturing and plans to upgrade it with full call-processing capability and other enhancements in
the near future.
