The definition of "we" and "our culture" by the likes of Neocon is extremely narrow and based solely on their very tiny view of the world and what "proper" culture is. Culture in this country should not be fixed in some past point in time, as it needs to change and grow as all people of this country change and grow. This is the centerpiece of true openness. The Neocons of the world say "This is the way it was and so, this is the way it should and will be". They can not adjust and be open to "different" people and their different and highly valuable points of view, which make the Neocons very uncomfortable. "That's not what we did yesterday!" they say. "This is the way "we" do things around here. This is what is right and it is The Way." The Neocon wish to live in the past, when "things were simpler and everyone knew their place" and hey, after all, this IS a "Christian Nation". Well, on this point, they are dangerously wrong. This concept is not in the interest of learning and it is not in the best interest of each and every person living in this country. It is only in the interest of those who share the same very narrow view of The Answer. They "want their country back", which has been "stolen" by "different" cultures and "different" people and "different" ideas. This is, at the very minimum, selfish and at it's worst, very dangerous. The challenge to this country is to constantly add the new and different pieces to make a new and even better country. To exclude these valuable pieces and ideas based on one's person's view of what is "correct" is very sad and as I've said, dangerous.
