You statement seems week at best. Small states don't get more representation. The get equal power in senate, but not the House. Why do you think California has more electoral votes? Because hit has more Congressmen.

It has less electoral votes and less total congressmen (counting both representatives and senators) then a bunch of small states with equal population.

But if you take away the E.C. then small states will be ignored.

When we are considering electing a president why is it so bad that certain states are ignored? Should Wyoming for example get more attention then a Fairfax County VA? Fairfax County has more people then Wyoming. Obviously Wyoming is a state and has a state government that has more power and rights under the constitution then the Fairfax County board of Supervisors does, but in terms of presidential elections why should Wyoming count for more? Why is it worse if Wyoming is ignored then it is if the greater population of Fairfax is ignored. Also should the prime consideration of how we set up a presidential election even be trying to make sure that no state (or large county) is ignored?

If Bush takes FL. then he won the Popular vote in MORE states then Gore did. The overall total vote doesn't matter as we are a representative government and not a populous government.

I want Bush to win. I think a Gore administration would be a bad thing, but the only reason that the total vote doesn't matter is that in our country elections for president are decided by the electoral college not by the popular vote and that of course is the very issue we are discussing.
The expression is normally that we are a republic not a democracy. Meaning we do not exercise direct democracy for most decisions but instead we elect people to represent us.
That idea itself does not say how these representatives should be elected.
