>>Skeeter, I guess the only thing we do know for sure is that it will last a long time.<<

longer than either of us can imagine, imho...

>>It will probably become the impetus for ending the electoral college.<<

i can see this, too.

>>It may well be the impetus for the creation of a viable third party.<<

i wish. not for perot, though. how about the moderate, indepent, intellectually honest party? never happen, though, imho.

>>Perot is probably hopping mad and spitting like a snake
that he wasn't around this time to make political hay out
of this mess.<<

i think perot is kicking himself in the butt for handing the 1992 election to bill clinton b/c of a personal vendetta against george, sr.

regarding news reporting...

from politics.slate.msn.com

>>Three Palm Beach County voters filed suit on Wednesday to set aside the presidential election results from the county and hold a new election in two weeks. They claim the ballot, which had been redesigned with bigger print to accomodate the many older voters in the county, confused them.<<

why no mention that a flaming democrat designed this ballot?

>>Officials threw out 19,120 ballots before counting them because two candidates were marked for president.<<

why didn't they get a new ballot? surely they knew that punching 2 holes was going to nullify their vote. are so many folks in this county that DUMB?

>>In addition, Pat Buchanan received 3,704 votes in the strongly Democratic county, nearly 2,700 more than he received in any other county.<<

ok, why not givce us the popluation of said county relative to other counties? this snippet is worthless. why not give a % of the total vote that went to buchanan?

this is poor journalism by folks that are either 1. not very good or 2. have an agenda and are trying to hide some very pertinent information.

jmho...

I saw Perot On Larry King live. He threw his support to Bush.

lew, i found out that population plays a HUGE factor in my prior post regarding context for the # of buchanan votes.

check out

msnbc.com

notice how the district that gore won in south florida also has, by far the largest population?

well, that makes absolute number comparisons worthless. you need % numbers to compare. absolute numbers terribly distort the picture where a % would bring it much better focus.

can someone spell a-g-e-n-d-a? ;-)
