OT - - It's not getting much press, but NM is recounting 67,000 absentee and early-voting ballots -- potentially enough to alter their results...

55 of 67 counties reporting, Bush still leads by +781. Markets rallying back somewhat. Other than legal remedies (which are doubtful in a National election) Gore is done.

Will Gore resign later tonight? Probably not, but he should imho.

Count 4 counties by hand? Just the 4 that favor him I bet. Anyone have an idea of how long that would take? If the hand count is different than the machine count by a significant factor should it be counted a 2nd time?

Where does it all end Al?

Iso, all kidding aside, I do think this election has direct relevance to the oil patch and discussion of same may have more relevance than some wish to admit. I mean how much thread time has been spent discussing the Richardson/Clinton failed energy policy? Sometimes we've gone on here for dayyyyyys on that subject. How about Clintons failed ME policies and relations with the Arab world? Does anybody really think Gore's policies will be markedly different, except markedly worse? I happen to think that having a healthy and prosperous oil industry is good for the nation, and so from that limited perspective, demos are bad. Doesn't any one here remember that during the Gulf War Joe Lieberman became the living resurrection of "Scoop" Jackson? Goodness, he was Mr. Windfall Profits Tax, personified. So yeah, when I think a guy who would be real bad news for the patch and thus the country is trying to steal an election I get a little passionate. So crucify me!

About the over all markets - I tend to agree with Slider that this market was going down anyway. But these election shennanigans provide the excuse. I wonder if these follies go on how the almighty buck will be affected? Ooops.

Just for fun: Don't you think Hillary would have been a better Evita than Madonna? That movie was even worse than Plan 9. God! Hillary is the Senator from NY! So glad I left. Maybe Strom and I will fire on Fort Sumter again! <WBG> :o{}}}}}}}}}}

Welcome to life on the cash pile! You'll sleep easier now and so will Kodiak; no doubt. ;o}

Hi Iso and all. Just heard a members of the "liberal" media on Fox site Rush Limbaugh (a self-certified right wing extremist) as the authority on the Florida butterfly ballot controversy. LOL

There are a many good people in the media, like Ron Insana and Art Cashin (Warburg) just now on CNBC.

ON Topic: Saw no great bargains today. MVK fans had a chance to buy it cheaper - again. Along with various options I'm holding FLC, PDE, DO, WFT, and APA. All solidly in the black. And for "balance" I've got NEM and a little WCOM. Both in the red. Overall about 3% below all time high. Was hurt by HAL puts - I dumped most of them (euphemistically for a tax loss).

Take care Iso and all. Try to see both sides of an issue. From my short career as a teacher of American Literature, suggested reading: To Kill a Mocking Bird, where Atticus teaches his children to stand in the other person's shoes to be able to see life from the other's viewpoint.

LT optimistic Winkman

PS: I suggest that we all put Post Patrol on ignore. I have had him there for a long time. His posts and responses are a waste of bandwidth. All the above JMHO.
