...One of the more-lucrative e-infrastructure plays is storage, projected to be a $100 billion industry by 2005. So it is no wonder the major PC players are clamoring to get in the game.

To be sure, there is considerable growth potential in the storage market, a highly visible area that IBM has separated from its enterprise group. Year over year, its storage sector is growing at a 50% clip. IBM might be late to the market, but it jumped into the game before competitors like Dell Computer Corp. {DELL}. Its recent agreement with Compaq Computer Corp. {CPQ} to cross-sell storage systems will help make this a viable business going forward.

Bob Sutherland of Technology Business Research expects IBM's growth in storage to gain solid ground as EMC's growth rate slips. Why? Because EMC lacks a complete system -- such as a tape package -- lacks presence in high-growth markets like Asia and is facing increased pricing competition at the low-end of the market.

Per previous posts, looks like the OEM biz will be more and more important for ADIC.
